RECEPTIVE LANGUAGE
We work with children to help develop the tools necessary to understand language in both the verbal and written form to support in:
Understanding “wh” and yes/no questions
Following directions-simple or complex, multistep directions and following classroom routines
Identifying concepts such big/small, under/over, next to, behind, in/on, wet/dry
Understanding language in context
Word knowledge/understanding new vocabulary
Understanding figurative language (language that uses words or expressions with a meaning that is different from the literal interpretation such as “it’s raining cats and dogs”)
Reading comprehension to answer questions about stories
Processing linguistic information
